Fitzy's DIY of the Month: January

After a couple years off I've taken up knitting again. It all started when a yarn shop opened up in my neighbourhood, and I just had to check in out. I didn't even have a project in mind, when I fell in love with this hand dyed merino wool from Madeline Tosh. I knew right away that it was coming home with me!

Originally my plan was to make a pair of socks (a project that I'd been wanting to tackle for awhile), but when I mentioned it to the woman at the store she recommended that I make a pair of hand warmers instead, since the yarn wouldn't wear very well as socks.

I'm so happy that I followed her advice. I'd actually been wanting a pair of gloves that I could wear while using my phone, and these were so satisfying to knit.

If you'd like to knit your own you can find the pattern I used here. It's actually an Australian pattern from 1933! I'm guessing the pattern designer did not design these with smart phones in mind.
